The city of High Point is located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. High Point is currently the eighth-largest municipality in North Carolina, and is known as the “Home Furnishings Capital of the World™”.
High Point was incorporated in 1859 and was named after the “highest point” on the North Carolina Railroad between Goldsboro and Charlotte. City founders strongly believed that High Point’s central location was destined to attract a wealth of industry and commerce opportunities to the area.
Today, High Point draws visitors from every state, and from more than 100 countries for the Biannual High Point Market… the largest Home Furnishings show in the world. High Point is home to more than 50 retail furniture outlets, offering a variety of manufacturers with every style imaginable.
In High Point you can revisit civil war history at a local plantation, hike with a friend on the nature trails at Piedmont Environmental Center or spend an afternoon at a local art gallery. Spend an evening taking in a show at the High Point Theatre, or enjoy concerts by the lake or festivals at the park throughout the year.
